2.11 Social Media Policy for Employees (W-2) and Agents (1099-Contractors)
Maintaining a professional and trustworthy online presence in the real estate industry is crucial for protecting both individual and company reputations. A comprehensive social media policy is essential for a brokerage working with employees and 1099 contractors, as it establishes clear guidelines on engaging with clients, colleagues, and the public online. Given the unique nature of our business — where personal branding often intertwines with company identity — this policy helps ensure that everyone represents the company in a way that aligns with our values, legal standards, and ethical practices.
This policy also minimizes risks related to confidentiality, advertising regulations, and potential legal issues, fostering a cohesive and professional online environment for all.
This policy applies to social media activities across platforms, including but not limited to personal and professional websites, blogs, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, and email. It also extends to any activity that connects an employee or agent to the Company, directly or indirectly, as the Company could be held legally liable.
While employees and agents are free to express themselves personally, they should refrain from posting anything that could damage the reputation of CENTURY 21 Redwood Realty or could be perceived as unprofessional, hateful, or bigoted. You are responsible for your posts, the comments on those posts, and your comments on all posts.
The three steps below represent our company’s position on social media.

Employees and Agents should:
- Not share confidential client information or company-sensitive materials without permission
- Protect the privacy of colleagues, clients, and business partners
- Clearly identify themselves as an employee/agent of C21 Redwood Realty when discussing real estate-related topics online
- Include disclaimers when opinions expressed are personal. Example: “Opinions are my own and do not reflect the views of C21 Redwood Realty.”
- Adhere to NAR’s Code of Ethics (applies to agents)
- Represent the company with integrity and align content with C21 Redwood Realty's Core Values
C21 Redwood Realty reserves the right to request the removal or modification of any content that violates this policy.
